Nursing Internship Program
Memorial Hospital’s Nurse Intern Program is a dynamic paid learning experience for nursing students in their last year of their Associate or Bachelor Nursing Program. The program provides opportunities for the Nurse Intern to participate in direct patient care with assigned Registered Nurse Mentors. The Nurse Intern has the opportunity to train and work with their RN Mentor in the Medical-Surgical and Emergency Units. Memorial’s Nurse Intern Program prepares the Nursing Student to engage and transition into the actual workforce with advanced mentorship.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Medical Assistants work with specialty providers and family clinicians in Memorial’s Specialty Clinic and Rural Health Clinics. CMA’s assist providers with the care of patients during their out-patient visits. Responsibilities include rooming patients, patient vital assessments, charting, good communication with the physicians and patients, comprehensive understanding of the healthcare plans, and execution of placing medication orders with physician guidance and following-up with patients.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CNA’s provide nursing care at Memorial’s out-patient clinics and throughout the hospital. They work in a variety of departments from rural health and specialty clinics, to ER, medical surgical, and oncology departments. CNA’s provide vital assistance to the doctors and providers by identifying patient care needs and collaborating with the healthcare team. They also promote a compassionate environment by providing support to patients, friends, and families. They promote patient independence by working on the patient care goals with the health care team. CNAs are responsible for maintaining continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Memorial's LPNs work in locations at the Rural Health Clinics, Specialty Clinic, and nursing departments throughout the hospital including ER, OR, Chemo & Infusion Department, and Medical Surgical Unit. LPNs assist providers with care, treatment, and office based procedures and interventions. They communicate and collaborate with providers and team members to provide coordinated care, serving as an advocate for the patient. As directed by providers, they processes prescriptions and medication refills, process orders for outpatient testing, administer medications, injections and immunizations, and perform office testing such as vision, urinalysis, and EKG.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Memorial hires RNs who can make a difference in the community by using assessments, critical thinking and problem solving skills in our hospital. RNs collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to effectively provide care for the best outcomes and be a part of our 5-Star Patient Satisfaction Team. RNs help identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. RNs promote patient independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients, friends, and family to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills and answer questions. They assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
Emergency/Trauma Nursing
The ER at Memorial also provides Convenient Care services to our rural community as well as urgent trauma care. A continuous flow of patients are seen each day in the department. As a Stroke Ready Hospital and with efficient working relationships with larger hospitals, Memorial is prepared for every emergency that comes through our doors so we can help stabilize the patient and provide urgent access to advanced care if needed via ambulance or helicopter. Memorial has on-call surgeons and ER doctors on site 24/7. ER teams have access to an onsite lab and diagnostic imaging department that is staffed 24/7. ER Nurses specialize in rapid assessment and treatment of acute illness and trauma. They are trained to treat a wide variety of illnesses and injuries, ranging from sore throats to heart attacks and strokes.
Critical Care Nursing
Memorial has two newly remodeled ICU beds that are equipped with the most up-to-date technology to assist in monitoring and caring for critical patients.
Infusion & Chemo Nursing
With an active chemo and infusion departments, certified and trained nurses work with doctors and oncologists to provide treatment and care for our patients in our newly renovated space. The department provides a quiet and tranquil space for patients to rest and heal while receiving treatments and our team of nurses provide exceptional compassion and encouragement for not only the patients, but for their families as well. Our nurses are always willing to answer questions with compassion and go the extra mile to make sure every family member feels well cared for.
Perioperative & OR Nursing
Memorial has an active same day surgery department with two operating rooms, one endoscopy room, and one procedure room. Specialty doctors in orthopedics, vascular surgery, ocular surgery, ENT, urology, pain management, podiatry, along with two general surgeons handle cases daily in the department. OR nurses provide patient assessment pre and post operation. They are knowledgeable and skilled in communicating with the patient, family members, and their co-workers. Nurses provide patient assessment and care in pre, intra, and post operative care. We have staff certified as surgical techs, RNs specific in OR nursing and a RN in PICC insertion.
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Nurse Practitioner’s at Memorial’s Rural Health Clinics provide primary, family healthcare. They perform physical exams, assess, treat and evaluate acute and chronic illnesses, prescribe and manage medications and provide disease prevention services. Memorial has two rural health clinics that provide family care to residents throughout Randolph County.
