The Illinois Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (ISHMPR) honored marketing, public relations and communications professionals from across the state at its 2020 Fall Virtual Conference and Pinnacle Awards held October 15-16, 2020.

ISHMPR membership is open to marketing, communications, and public relations professionals from hospitals statewide. The Annual Conference offers the opportunity for professional networking and educational presentations by nationally recognized healthcare marketing professionals.

In conjunction with the Annual Conference, ISHMPR sponsors the Pinnacle Awards to recognize excellence and achievement in healthcare marketing and public relations. Entries are judged on their own merit in accordance with established criteria for project planning, implementation and overall results. Memorial Hospital was recognized with the Award of Merit: Special Event for Wine & Girl Power – Go Red for Women 2020 submitted by Mariah Bargman, Community Relations & Marketing Manager. This is the first time Memorial Hospital has submitted a project for the Pinnacle Awards and was honored to receive the Award of Merit for this annual event that has gained popularity over the years.

Wine and Girl Power - Go Red for Women, was the title of this year’s annual event held by Memorial Hospital of Chester to educate women on heart health topics during American Heart Month. The event is hosted as an American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women event. The target audience is woman 30 years of age and older. The focus of the event is to raise awareness about heart disease in women with a delightful evening of entertainment and education on preventative action they can take now to reduce their risk of heart disease in the future. The evening includes a heart healthy meal and dessert catered by the Memorial Hospital dietary team, a guest speaker or two, interactive women’s health related booths provided by healthcare departments from Memorial Hospital, the rural health clinics, and rehab center, attendance prizes and a complimentary wine glass, and wine tasting provided by PRP Wine of St. Louis, MO.

Event coordinator, Mariah Bargman states that, “This event would not be possible without the planning efforts, preparation, and execution from the Memorial Hospital Dietary Team and Administrative Assistant Apryl Bradshaw. When I took over planning the event in 2018 it was nice to know I had seasoned veterans to help guide me with the details.” Over the years, we have added a wine tasting element and brought in notable speakers. Each year has a slightly different theme and focus. This year’s event was all about empowering women to make their heart health top priority.
