Memorial Hospital’s Director of Dietary, Tia Reid, attended the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) Annual Conference & Expo (ACE), which took place in St. Louis, MO June 26-29. The ANFP is a national not-for-profit association established in 1960 that today represents more than 15,000 professionals dedicated to the practice of providing optimum nutritional care through foodservice management in hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and senior living communities. The ANFP provides continuing education and professional development for members annually.
At this year’s annual conference, Reid had the opportunity to observe several esteemed speakers present on topics including ethics, workplace sanitation, leadership, OSHA resources, and making Food & Safety part of the disaster plan. As Director of Dietary, Reid’s role at Memorial requires her to be educated in food service management, but also provide a manager role and to be an active supervisor for her staff. The ANFP conference is the perfect opportunity to cross train for both roles. “Lots of great networking. I am proud to be a part of this great organization,” stated Reid. Conferences like ACE are a great opportunity for Memorial’s directors to learn new practices from professionals to continue great leadership and educate themselves on topics directly related to their role in healthcare. Through education and training, Memorial’s staff works to provide the best service possible to the community.
