Brett Bollmann, CEO at Memorial Hospital named Heather Smith Employee of the Quarter for the First Quarter 2025 on April 16, 2025.

 

Heather Smith, Registered Medical Assistant at the Rural Health Clinics, has worked at Memorial Hospital for almost 14 years. When asked what she likes most about working at Memorial, she replied, “I love that I get to come to work every day and know that I am making a difference in our patients' lives, whether it be with their health or just being a listening ear when they need it. I also have the very best co-workers that I get to work with every day. They are all like family to me. It is such a privilege and an honor to be nominated and selected as employee of the quarter.” 

 

Her co-workers who nominated her wrote, “This employee is always smiling, kind, compassionate, and understanding with patients and staff. They go above and beyond and will help anyone when asked. Very knowledgeable with Cerner and always assists us when there is a concern.”


“This employee has a great attitude and hardly ever calls in. They always have a smile on their face and are willing to help where needed. This employee will go out of their way to walk a patient down the hallways to get to the correct clinical department so that she knows they made it there safely. She has a positive outlook on life and that shows in her everyday work!”


Smith resides in Shiloh Hill, Illinois with her husband Walt and son. Outside of her professional responsibilities at the clinics, she enjoys spending time outdoors with family, fishing, taking evening rides on their side by side, boating, and day trips to swim at Minnith Creek in Missouri.

 

Each quarter employees are encouraged to submit “star cards” for their co-workers who go above and beyond in their patient care or teamwork. Four random cards were drawn at the award presentation for Soleil Brunkhorst, RHC Receptionist; Kristen Schwartz, RHC Receptionist; Heather Wingerter, RHC Medical Assistant; and Tom Colvis, Floor Technician.
